This week our technician came upon a much happier site then first anticipated, finding this well hidden, very much alive, elk calf. Both elk and cow mothers will hide their young while they step away, but this is the first time we have witnessed a baby hiding in water. Elk are very water oriented animals, so it comes as no surprise.
