MCRCD staff can assist with soil sampling and interpretation of soil health data on your property as a fee for service. The soil health concept recognizes that soil is a living system with properties and processes that perform essential ecosystem services. Soil health is measured through multi-factor assessments that include biological, chemical, and physical characteristics that help with understanding important soil functions. MCRCD staff can assist in developing a soil sampling plan, report, and analysis. Results may be used to identify resource concerns and to inform future management decisions, including implementing conservation practices, tracking success of existing practices, and quantifying carbon storage in soil organic matter.
